Throughout life we all encounter circumstances, both external and internal, which cause difficulties and distress. It is often helpful to consult a professional who can be of assistance in sorting out confusing and distressing life events and perceptions. Psychotherapy/counseling services involve evaluation, education and treatment components. I attempt to bring thoughtfulness and respect to clarifying and helping you understand difficulties which you have encountered. My approach is primarily cognitive-behavioral but most importantly it is practical. In order to make changes, which will be helpful to you, it is important for you to understand what your capabilities are and to work effectively within those capabilities.

I am interested in helping you resolve problems/distress as quickly as possible but the duration of therapy will vary depending upon the complexity and severity of the problems presented. Psychotherapy often involves revealing information that is difficult to discuss; I do my best in providing you with a safe, comfortable environment in which you can explore issues, improve understanding and develop some solutions. As a psychologist, I am governed by the Code of Ethics of the American Psychological Association (a copy is available at your request).
